Opening date for Fleming Way revealedBus companies will start to run services from Fleming Way from Sunday, 31 August 2025, marking the final completion of this major infrastructure scheme.Swindon Bus Company have published a list of which bus stop will service each of its routes from 31 August. This map shows where to board each route.Visitors arriving into the town centre by train, bus or bike will enjoy a vastly-improved public realm, with new benches, bike racks, waste bins and more than 185 trees and 23,000 plants and bushes planted. There will also be new bus shelters with more space, to allow for better accessibility for those in wheelchairs, wireless charging, digital screens (with Real Time Information for departures) and solar panels. The new road will also create a better space for bus services around Swindon and the surrounding areas, as well as allow for national and inter-city routes.New cycle lanes have also been added, connecting the town’s two main cycle routes so cyclists can travel through Swindon or to the town centre. With all bus services moved to Fleming Way, the current dilapidated bus station will be demolished.Backed by a government-approved business case that secured 75 per cent of the funding, the project aims to stimulate further investment in the town centre by increasing land values and making it more attractive for investors to bring forward new homes, offices, shops and leisure facilities. The improvements have already been referenced by global banking giant Zurich as a reason for why it committed to keeping its headquarters in Swindon, located in Unity Place next to Fleming Way.It is also why other landowners, such as FI Real Estate Management, has invested £8.5m in its nearby Newbridge Square offices. The latest images below give a bird’s eye view of the area.Questions and feedback To contact the Fleming Way team, please email FlemingWay@swindon.gov.uk.Click the play button on the video above to see how Fleming Way will look when completed.
