Frequently Asked Questions
Who is responsible for grounds maintenance within the Parish?
In general, Blunsdon PC is responsible for grass cutting, hedges, litter and dog bins. Swindon Borough Council is responsible for Highways, Fly Tipping Footpaths and Bridleways. Please contact the Parish Clerk if you require any further information.
What role does the Parish Council play in dealing with Planning Applications?
The PC is a Statutory Consultee and as such is notified of all Planning Applications within the Parish. The Parish Council send its comments and support/objection to Swindon Borough Council who then determine the outcome.
Does the Parish Council have any Allotments?
Towards the end of 2017 and into 2018 the PC will take ownership of up to 30 allotments within the Parish. There is a waiting list which you can join, if you are resident within the Parish, by contacting the Parish Clerk.
The new developments underway in the Parish often leave mud and debris on the roads, how can I get this dealt with?
Generally, as part of the Planning conditions wheel wash facilities should be in place on the new developments so that mud transfer is managed. However, sometimes this does not work, for a variety of reasons, so if you have concerns you can contact SBC Planning Department who can enforce Planning conditions and liaise with the Highways Department or you can contact the Parish Clerk.
